The words Bau-biologie® and Building Biology® have exactly the same definition: ”How buildings impact life.” The original German word was carried into English through Baubiologie literature. This word is trademarked in the United States. Historically, it acknowledges the origin of much of this knowledge, which stems from the Institute für Baubiologie und Ökologie in Neubeuern, Germany. By using knowledge that has been amassed in Europe, the United States and Canada over the past four decades, the application of Bau-biologie or Building Biology principles identifies ways to eliminate, or at least alleviate, obstacles in the effort to create healthy living and working space. This information is applicable both for new construction and for redesign or remediation of existing buildings. |
